Chaos at the Airport with Delta!
All started when my grandma booked a ticket to come to the US since we bring her mostly every year or two.
Everything was working out fine, the flight from Argentina to Chile was from LAN (LanChile) and that was a 45 minutes flight.. everything was great till then.
From Chile to Atlanta the flight was okay as well but the airline was already Delta and that’s when the problems begin.
Delta Airlines arrived to Atlanta and the passengers come out to wait for next plane that was supposed to take off an hour after…
When that time arrives, the flight attendant forgot my grandma and the plane took off without her.. or that’s what they told us at first, but I will explain that later on.
So first mistake, they forgot my grandma.. (We always get her assistance everytime she comes to the US). Now they call my aunt because of what they did and told her that they will put her on the 5pm airplane and she would be arriving around 11pm when she was supposed to be arriving at 12pm (midday!) That was so frustrating.
My aunt called my dad and they met at the airport with my cousin to do something about it, my grandma is not a young person and she can’t be in the airport for so long and it was their responsibility to get her on the very next plane and not when they wanted to.
So my counsin must of have been really mad knowing her and she managed to get my grandma on the next plane arriving to Rhode Island at 5pm.. 5 hours later than what she was supposed to arrive.
(So their next excuse was that the plane was having difficulties, but they never alerted the passengers)
My grandma finally arrives to Rhode Island 5 hours later really tired and guess what.. they had to wait at the airport another hour just because Delta lost her BAGGAGE.
They told my cousin they would call the next day to update us on the status and it was 12pm and they didn’t call, so I got the voucher with a number to find out the status and called.. while I was on the line waiting for an hour they finally picked up and I gave all the information they asked for just to tell me they have no updates on the baggage and that I would receive a call from Delta when they do have an update..
The baggage was lost in Atlanta and by then my grandma was already flying with Delta, so there is no way they could have lost the baggage!
That day passed and nobody called, but I did call most of the day because I knew they would not call at all. The next day after 10am I started calling again and no information, I called again at 6am and they finally tell me the baggage was out for delivery at around 8pm..
So I hang up and waited for the delivery driver to call when they were at my aunts door because that’s the address my grandma used. The driver called 30 minutes after telling me they delivered the baggage so I said ok.
My grandma and dad went to my aunt’s house to pickup the baggage and it looks like the paper wrap was cut, but thankfully the baggage had a lock and the key was on my grandma’s hand bag.
The Experience with Delta was horrible and I have no other way to describe it. After paying more than $1,000+ for the ticket.. and yes that’s what the ticket cost to come to the US from Argentina.
I would never recommend DELTA to anyone.
I have been searching around and there are many similar cases with Delta.
